About us:

The goal of Foreningen Norden (the Nordic association) is to make it easier and better for people to live in the Nordic countries. We strive to achieve this by influencing the authorities and increasing the co-operation between the Nordic countries. We are a Nordic culture-carrier and have been a supporter for Nordic co-operation since 1919. Foreningen Norden strengthens and further develops the Nordic cultural fellowship by communicating knowledge of Nordic culture, language, history and society.

Foreningen Norden has 5.000 members in Norway, and 52.000 member together with the sister associations in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Sweden, the Åland Islands, Greenland and the Faeroe Islands. We are a politically-independent association for single members and organisations.

Foreningen Norden has over a hundred local teams all over Norway and about a hundred organisations work together with Foreningen Norden, among others LO (the Norwegian umbrella organisation of labour unions) and NHO (the Norwegian employer’s organisation). Furthermore, about 700 schools and libraries are members of Foreningen Norden.
